Tennis instruction in the US runs from a certified teaching pro giving private lessons on a park court to full academies with fitness staff, boarding and tournament travel. Private lessons are priced per hour, semi-private and group clinics cost less per player, and most clubs run junior programs after school and adult drills in the evening. The USTA organizes the national rating (NTRP) and the adult and junior leagues most players join; the USPTA and PTR certify coaches. Summer camps take kids by the week or the day and usually include lunch and match play. Stadiums and event venues host college matches, USTA sanctioned tournaments and the occasional exhibition, with free or low-cost admission for most of them.

Genuinely great facilities, great staff, great members - but coming here is probably obliterating my mental health and raising my blood pressure through the stratosphere. Been a member for at least a month now. I use my membership almost exclusively for pickleball (and a little basketball). Making mistakes during pickleball is unbelievably frustrating, and I'm the worst combination of just good enough to know I'm underperforming + not playing enough to get meaningfully more consistent + hating to lose + being the opposite of clutch + being too lazy to actually do anything about anything. Ironically, I pretty much got a membership to support my mom. She's a relatively new pickleball player who is currently going through her own existential crisis thanks to some very rude and passive-aggressive players at her church pickleball meetups. Thankfully, the YMCA pickleball players are far more affable and friendly to her, which I find immensely reassuring. Apparently, based on past reviews + a conversation Francisco had with my mom and me, the vibes weren't so great in the past. That's no longer the case. If you have any reservations as a new player or even an experienced player maybe w

I have been a gym member for about 6 months. The facilities are huge and they have a variety of classes available as well as childcare. The parking lot is small but I have always found a spot. The staff is friendly and kind. Its great for our community and there's always something fun for the family.

I am in year 3 of my McGaw membership and really enjoy the variety of classes offered. Many gyms only have early morning and evening class, but McGaw has a good selection of midday classes. The fitness director, Allison, is a gem, and her classes are great workouts with some fun mixed in. There are a number of good yoga teachers as well.

Joining the McGaw YMCA has been an amazing experience! The entire staff has been so friendly and welcoming. I love playing pickleball there. Francisco and his team (shout out to Alex!) make it feel like a family! I am always greeted warmly and thanked for coming and being a part of the Y. They provide all the equipment needed to play and they make everyone feel welcome, no matter their skill level. They offer multiple days/times for pickleball open play including daytime, evening, and weekend hours. They also offer ladder leagues, instruction, and occasional tournament play. Francisco is the best! He really sets the tone for a warm and inclusive atmosphere. He is super friendly and gets to know everyone by name. I have met so many new pickleball friends through the Y!
